Language Patterns
Language Patterns is a literacy program for beginning readers, developed and tested in Canadian classrooms, and fully consistent with the Ontario Language Curriculum (2023) and the recommendations of the 2022 Ontario Human Rights Commission Report, Right to Read.
Language Patterns is systematic, comprehensive and science-based. It includes phonemic awareness, letter-sound based decoding, orthographic and morphological knowledge, as well as comprehension, critical thinking, and creative writing - all developed around a sound synthetic phonics core.
Teachers will find following the program straightforward - you can get started with whatever level of knowledge you have. You can start now and be proud of what you and your students can accomplish! The Teacher Editions give you clear directions on each lesson. As you work through the program, you will acquire more knowledge and experience of the Science of Reading in action.
Sound Search
Sound Search - one of the many activities your students will enjoy. Talk about the pictures and sounds, but don't be be fooled by the tricky one!

Visual Theme
The activity book design theme is simple and very like a colouring book, with lots of white space. Many of the learning activities are accomplished by adding colour to the illustrations, and students will make the activity books their own!
8

LP Decodable Collections
Stories that your students can both decode and enjoy!
Students can read each story using the skills they have learned so far.
9

Is Sam a good dog? Will he do what he is told?
The Letter-Lore decodables are amusing and engaging, even when they only use 5 sounds! Students discover the thrill of reading real stories, with character and plot, humour and suspense.
10

Diversity
Letter-Lore Decodable Collections include original art and text to represent Canadian diversity and introduce Indigenous themes.

Lively Illustrations
The illustrations that accompany the decodable stories are carefully designed to supplement but not duplicate the text.
